During times of war or siege, the residents of Hazor could obtain water by descending through this tunnel to a water source outside of the city walls.

Hazor had an elaborate water system, much like the one at Megiddo. A thirty-five meter deep shaft inside the city wall led down to a tunnel that ran under the wall to a spring outside of the city. Seen here is the top of the shaft.

The city of Hazor had a six-chambered gate, similar to the Solomonic gates of Megiddo. The elders of the city conducted business and social transactions in these gate chambers.

A six-chambered Solomonic gate, that guarded the entrance to Hazor. Troops were stationed in the open areas between the chambers. To enter the city the enemy had to fight their way through the passage between the chambers.
