The Church is PROUD and BOASTFUL with the knowledge that this is happening. They feel somehow that it displays their 'way of glory' in that they can have such things happening (that even the outsiders would not talk about) - they probably believed that because their bodies are evil what they do in their bodies will not effect their souls and spirits. They probably felt they were still spiritual inspite of this event.
