1. Welcome TOP
Get ready to enter the land of the Bible! You will experience it as it was promised to
Abraham, inhabited by his descendants, ruled over by the judges and kings, lamented for by
the prophets, and traveled in by Jesus and His disciples. We invite you to strap on your
sandals as we travel together through 130 location overviews, and view some 900 color
photographs, with scripture references linked to each site.
Our CD is a unique resource for everyone who seeks to understand and teach the Bible.
It is for home-schoolers, pastors, Sunday School teachers, small group leaders,
missionaries, students in Bible schools around the world,
and for your personal
study.
If you have never visited Israel, this will be your first tour; if you have been there,
it will refresh your memories and build on your experiences. At the click of a mouse, you
will find pictures, site descriptions, interactive maps, Scripture references and study
articles.
Why is this geographical resource important for your study of the Word? CONTEXT! As the
saying goes, "context is king!" But what do we mean by context? Certainly we
consider the surrounding verses, the entire passage and the Bible book itself. But the
events recorded did not take place in a vacuum. We must enter into the historical,
cultural and theological context of the Scripture we are studying.
We must also know the "where," the geographical context, to fully understand
the "who," the "how," and the "why," of what we are reading.
The people we meet in the Bible were real people who lived in real places under real
conditions. This was not by accident. The God who meticulously formed the hills and
valleys of the Land is the One who located people in the exact places He had prepared for
them. This resource is designed to help you "see" these places and to
"experience" what these people experienced. We hope this CD will help you
"to walk in their sandals."

COLUMBIA BIBLICAL
SEMINARY & SCHOOL OF MISSIONS
Students who are serious about their walk with God and who want to serve Him come to
Columbia Biblical Seminary & Graduate School of Missions (CBS) to grow through total
life training. In a seminary known for academic excellence they gain a basic understanding
of the content, historical context and composition of the Bible. They learn essential
principles of biblical interpretation as they gain understanding of Gods worldwide
program of redemption. But there is more. These eager students learn to use their gifts
effectively through a curriculum which includes supervised involvement in teaching,
discipling, preaching and other ministries. And CBS seeks to discipline students in the
formation of Christian maturity so that the life of Christ is evident in their daily
lives.
CBS places these three aspects of total life training as distinctives, alongside its
commitment to the authority of Gods inerrant Word and its emphasis on worldwide
evangelization.
Thats the way its been since 1936 when Robert C. McQuilkin founded the
graduate school. Through the years CBS has prepared dynamic laborers for the harvest
fields, both at home and around the world.
CBS brings together students from diverse backgrounds, denominations, races and even
nations. They are alike in wanting to grow--under a distinguished and godly faculty--to be
all that God wants them to be.
For 75 years Columbia Bible Colleges (CBC) objective has been to help students
know Jesus Christ. In order to know Him, they must know the Bible, Gods revelation
of Christ. For this reason the Bible forms the heart of the CBC curriculum. Students
develop a worldview as they learn to master biblical content and develop interpretative
skills.
CBCs second objective is to enable students to fulfill Gods purpose for
their lives, to make Him known. Students prepare for ministry through skills developed in
supervised field education experiences.
Requirements like daily times of fellowship with God, daily attendance at chapels, and
interaction with a godly faculty provide the impetus for students to develop spiritually
as they prepare to make Him known.
Every program offered has emphasis on the authority of the Word of God, authentic
Christian living and world evangelism.
Most CBC graduates serve in vocational Christian ministry roles, prepared by majors
like Bible Teaching, Church Ministries, Pastoral Ministries and Biblical Languages. Others
are lay workers, enriching their churches and those with whom they come in contact through
their knowledge of Christ.

Missions, Columbia International University's seminary division.
Hulbert came to CIU in 1972 as dean of Columbia Biblical Seminary &
Graduate School of Missions, a position he held for sixteen years. He then served as vice
president for academic affairs for six years. During that time he was acting president for
one year following the 1990 resignation of Robertson McQuilkin.
He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Western Ontario and

4. How You Can Help
TOP
Financial We
believe that this resource is a unique product within the area of Bible research tools. It
is simple enough for children to use, while still being challenging enough in its content
for seminary students. We are at the beginning stages of a resource that can be developed
in a number of areas including curriculum, audio, video and much more animation. In order
to continue to expand "Walking in Their Sandals," we need financial resources.
After viewing the product, if you agree with our assessment of the quality of this
resource and you would like to help us further in the area of financial support, please
know that we need your help. This product has been supported to this point by the
leadership of Columbia International University, but as of October, 1999, it needs to
become self-supporting. We are trusting God that He will give us clear direction regarding
the future of this product based significantly on His provision for it or by lack of
provision.
Prayer Our
main objective is that God would be glorified. We feel that this product will help people
to "know Him better" and through this knowledge, they will "make Him
known." Please pray that our focus upon this objective would not be lost in the midst
of product distribution or fund raising efforts.
Thank Him with us for supplying more than we ever could have asked. Ephesians 3:20 has
been realized by our project team:
" Now, to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or
think, according to the power that works within us
."
He has done far more for us and through us than we ever could have hoped for or
imagined. This may sound prideful but it is not. We are surprised at all that he has done
through a group of ordinary people.
He provided the right people at the right time. When we needed someone who had creative
abilities and someone who could handle the technical work, He provided this in one person.
We needed an editor and one was already among us. We needed an illustrator and without
even knowing the need, a person stepped forward and volunteered his time. We needed
finances and they were provided just in time. We have all grown in our ability to trust
Him. We could tell story after story, but suffice it to say that He is able. Thank Him
with us for His wonderful mercy.
Please pray with us for these needs:
- For sufficient financial resources to continue the project.
- Ability to find additional pictures for locations that need them.
- Wisdom regarding how to distribute the product.
- And most of all, that we would stay focused on the objective of glorifying God.

Our east-oriented maps of the Holy Land are consistent both with the biblical data and
with the way people in the land oriented themselves geographically throughout their
history.
The four directions of the compass (north, south, east, and west) are concepts that are
foreign to the Bible. The Bible, however, does have its own compass. Instead of north,
south, east, and west, it uses different terms to help people orient themselves in the
land. Read more...
